case study: infoware

The Infoware Group consists of a number of companies that are active in Belgium, Holland, Luxemburg, and France. The main seat of the group is in Antwerp, Belgium. Infoware specialises mainly in Software Distribution, Network Integration, Firewalls, and VPN Solutions. It also works as an ISP/ASP (Internet Service Provider/Application Service Provider), hosting co-operation and messaging solutions.

The Infoware project is an interesting one. At present, we are testing a new version of Macromedia's Contribute, and the first results are very promising.

With Contribute people can be allowed to update certain parts of pages, or of web sites. Using Contribute, they do not have to know any HTML. They can just use Contribute to update the pages, or copy and paste the new texts from their word processor. This makes Contribute an ideal tool for companies where certain employees can be put in charge of keeping a specific part of the information on the web site up-to-date. The web site administrator can generate a key for them that they can use in Contribute. That key then gives them access to the pages they are allowed to modify, and, if thus specified, to templates to add new pages.

As mentioned, the first tests are really promising.
